About the Institute

Our Purpose

Aquarius Aquarium Institute, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization located in Fresno, California, (EIN # 77-0528762), was founded on January 3, 2000 to foster respect, understanding and conservation of the world’s aquatic ecosystems through educational programs, interpretive exhibits, scientific research and aquarium propagation of aquatic species. With your help, the Institute has established environmental teaching programs utilizing aquariums to help bring educational parity to central San Joaquin Valley students and citizens of all backgrounds and cultural groups in addition to being the organization behind the Fresno Aquarium project.

Our programs not only benefit our historically under-served region, but also promote awareness and appreciation of the interdependence of our land, rivers and the ocean in our diverse inland population. The Institute also advocates for solutions to challenges facing our riparian, coastal and marine resources.
