Teaching Tidepools

California Tide Pool Animals Visited Bluff View

Just upstream on the San Joaquin River from our future Fresno Aquarium location, Bluff View Private Preschool overlooks the river and provides a great place for Fresno children to learn before entering elementary school. According to their website, the school believes that “the preschool years should be devoted to socialization, building high self-esteem and developing a love for learning. Our focus is to develop a sense of competence by fostering exploration, inquiry, and encouraging children’s internal motivation.”

In keeping with this philosophy, Aquarius Aquarium Institute staff brought our living California tide pool animals into the school and rotated through nearly 80 children on a class-by-class basis, giving each child a personal opportunity to touch and interact with the animals.

While many of these children have been to California’s coast as well as distant public Aquariums, having the chance to spend quality time with the animals and experience our interactive program without the crowds certainly made the young students very happy as evidenced by their wide smiles and giggles of delight.

Whether your child attends a private school such as Bluff View or a public pre-K or elementary school, Aquarius Aquarium Institute can bring our Teaching Tidepools® animals and program to any location throughout the central San Joaquin Valley. We’d love to hear from you soon!
