Seven classes of Teaching Tidepools

This summer, Aquarius Aquarium Institute worked with the Sanger Unified School District’s LEAP (Learning, Enrichment & Activities Programs) to tailor our Teaching Tidepools&reg to accommodate more than 600 students participating in their summer program. The challenge was how we could deliver a quality program to so many children over 3 separate days at 3 separate campuses.

By scheduling seven presentations per day on a class-by-class basis and adjusting our program emphasis to the California State Standards and National Standards appropriate for each grade level, we were able to give each student an opportunity to interact with our living California tide pool animals in small groups of 5 students and deliver the educational components of our program in a very efficient and cost-effective manner.

Since the summer LEAP program is free to Sanger Unified School District students, we know we reached many children who had never seen these kinds of sea creatures except in books and television and never had the opportunity to visit the ocean, let alone an Aquarium.

Thanks to Sanger Unified for making this possible! We had a great time with your delightful students!
